President receives UNESCO general director ¬¢¬Ú¬é¬ã¬ï¬ß montsame , ¬¢¬Ñ¬Ñ¬ã¬Ñ¬ß, 7 ¬ã¬Ñ¬â¬í¬ß 26, 11:07 ¬³¬å¬Ó¬Ñ¬Ô: MONTSAME President of Mongolia, N. Bagabandi has received the UNESCO Director General, Koichiro Matsura.
At the meeting President Bagabandi mentioned that UNESCO made valuable contribution for developing education sector in Mongolia, protecting national cultural and historical heritages, and introducing most recent technical and technological achievements. Mr. Bagabandi expressed his satisfaction with implementation of projects and programs, which were carried out in Mongolia under the financial support from the UNESCO. President Bagabandi went on to say that UNESCO proclaimed 2001-2010 as years of cultural years of peace. Mongolia supports activities, projects and discussions, which are being implemented under the UNESCO proclamation. Mr. Bagabandi noted that there have been more opportunities to organize the international session entitled ''Agreement between Civilizations'' in Ulaanbaatar under auspieces of the Mongolian President. The President expressed his interest to register historical and cultural valuable things in the valley of Orkhon River of Mongolia to the cultural heritage list of the UNESCO. Mr. Matsura said that cultural and education fields of Mongolia have intensively developed in past nine years. Mr. Matsura noted that Mongolia is one of the active members of UNESCO and participates in all activities of the UNESCO. He pledged to pay more attention for registration of Mongolian historical and cultural findings to the cultural heritage list of the UNESCO. The UNESCO General Director will sign a cooperation and mutual understanding memorandum on July 26.
